The Jesus Army was an evangelical Christian religious movement based in Northamptonshire. It has also been known as the Jesus Fellowship Church and the Bugbrooke Community, so named after a Baptist chapel in the village of Bugbrooke. For a number of years, the Jesus Army has faced legal claims for sexual offences and physical abuse. Robsonshaw have represented numerous claimants in successful claims against the movement. A compensation scheme has now been launched to recompense survivors who were members or dependant of a member of the Jesus Army.

24 year old Alfie Morel has now been sentenced to almost 16 years in prison having been found guilty of 8 sexual offences against children, to include attempted rape and sexual assault. He was also convicted of offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Samantha Robson, specialist solicitor dealing with sexual abuse cases on behalf of victims over the past 20+ years comments, `In the majority of the cases of sexual abuse that I have dealt with, there have always been signs. It is rare to deal with a case where there has been no grooming, or the perpetrator has no history of concerns. We need to consider what more can be done to stop these individuals before they commit offences. Do we have sufficient systems of recording concerns which can be cross - referenced by other authorities involved?'

The High Court found that the delay by the Claimants had prejudiced Manchester City such that a fair trial was not possible.
